Autumn in Oslo

01:28

Fall is here and I couldn't be happier about it. Carpet of fallen leaves, crisp air and parks in the October sun make Oslo even more beautiful. Here I am matching the colored trees next to the Royal Palace, officially as an exchange student of the Law Faculty of UiO since this August.

Law Faculty of UiO (incredibly lucky to have lectures at such a majestic building)

After lectures it was time to enjoy the most of the sunny day by trying delicious crêpes at artsy Grunerløkka district and by watching the sunset from my favorite place in Oslo so far- the Opera House.

I hope you liked the photos and I wish you a wonderful week!

Moot Court experience

22:25

Almost two months have passed since participation in my first international Moot Court- CEEMC. I know, it is already July but I still would like to publish this law school life's related post. Better late than never, right?

It is hard to find words to describe how magical this time was. I think the feeling of gratitude, joy and relief after pleading the case before three judges of CJEU is quite visible in this photo of our team (besides of it being a little bit blurry).

#Repeating, repeating and repeating the speech for the 100th time

We were incredibly lucky as the venue for the moot court was the Supreme Court of Cassation. This building, the highest judicial instance in Bulgaria, was so beautiful. Full of history, detailed ornaments and fascinating architecture.

After the pleadings it was time to explore Bulgaria's capital city- Sofia. It was so different from cities I have visited before but I enjoyed it very much.

Overall, it was not only about improving legal knowledge, public speaking skills, working in a team for a common goal or getting the feeling how it is to be a lawyer while defending the case in front of judges. This experience showed that hard work pays off in the end and it was so interesting to find like-minded people, determined future lawyers from all over the Europe. Hope you enjoyed this post and I wish you a wonderful summer!

Law school lately

22:24

How was your weekend? I am finally back here with a fast law school update. These past few weeks have been pretty heavy for me as I had to deal with tons of assignments and several exams. But I guess that is what a life of a law student is like.

Besides that I decided to try my hand at arguing a (real) case at the CEEMC Moot Court Competition in EU law. It is more challenging than I could have imagined beforehand but I hope that every hour while working with the team will be worth it.

How is your University life going?

Christmas vibes

19:05

How is your weekend going so far? Lately, I have been really busy with the law school... I guess it is easy to tell by fewer and fewer posts I have shared here. Nevertheless, December, this magnificent time, has started and I hope it is not too early for Christmas themed pictures from the Old Town. Snowy weather, hot-chocolate, lights and beautiful decorations- it all inspired me to go out for a walk and explore the Christmas market at the heart of the old city. ☃

First snow

22:35

November has just started and it arrived with a beautiful surprise- the first snow. I love the fact that winter is coming. Streets, trees and buildings are covered in a magic wand which makes everything look so pure and powdery.

Last Friday I went to the show "Kings on ice" were world-known figure skaters such as Florent Amodio, Evgeni Plushenko, Adelina Sotnikova and Brian Joubert (my idol) were performing. It was magical to see these stars by my own eyes as I have followed the world of ice-skating since my childhood (I used to practice this sport with my sister in the good old days and then changed dancing on the ice to ballroom dances and contemporary dance afterwards).

Dreams do really come true!

After this dark day all I wanted to do was to focus on positive memories. I hope for unity and brighter future! Best wishes, Zane.

Jumping into autumn

"Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall." F. Scott Fitzgerald
I really like how one of my favorite writers F. Scott Fitzgerald catched the idea of this season and put it in quote. For me, fall is all about new beginning- to be courageous, persistent and bold enough in order to follow your dreams. Daring to try something new and challenging myself is exactly what is going on my everyday life at law school.

Evening light, carpet of fallen leaves shining in the mid-October sun, this beautiful and so Halloween-ish looking manor are the key elements of today's post. It was one of those moments when you want to jump for joy so why not to capture it in photographs?

Hope you enjoyed these photos! Do you like fall as much as I do?

Brunch

Friday favorites: strawberry cheesecake

22:46

As the strawberry season has started, I decided to bake a delicious and creamy strawberry cheesecake. These warm June evenings is my favorite time for trying new summertime recipes, inviting friends and enjoying the home-made desserts in the garden. This cheesecake with strawberry topping is perfect for filling up a Friday evening by baking. If you are interested in trying it, here is the recipe:

 Ingredients:

For the crust:

100 g butter, melted
200 g almond biscuits
(cantuccini)
1 lemon or lime

For the filling:

250 g mascarpone
200 g sour cream
50 g sugar
2 eggs

For the topping:

400 g fresh strawberries

Recipe:

Start by pounding biscuits in small pieces for the cake crust. Add the melted butter and the juice of half of lemon or lime. Line the cake form with baking paper, spread the crust in the form. Preheat oven to 160 degrees.
* Then continue with the filling by mixing mascarpone, sugar, eggs and the other half of lemon or lime juice. Pour the filling into the prepared crust.
* Bake it for 50 minutes and let the cheesecake cool down afterwards.
* Finally the best part- decorating. Cut strawberries in small pieces for the topping.

Enjoy the cake and have a great weekend! :)

HAPPY DAYS

" The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." Eleanor Roosevelt
Flowers, beautiful dresses, smile on everybody's face, happiness and gratitude- that pretty much sums up mine graduation ceremony yesterday. It is hard to put in words how quickly senior year passed by and what an amazing time it was. Now it is the moment to enter in the big world and follow the dreams.

With my dear mum

It is only the beginning for a whole new race and adventures.

Lots of love,
